The French Table

Untitled

A couple of weeks ago I went to a little restaurant called The French Table (website) , I might even go so far as calling it my favourite restaurant, even though I have only been to in 3 times, but boy is the food incredible!

It can be found on a quieter road parallel to the high street in Surbiton, Surrey, tucked inbetween a pub and a shop. Its a teeny tiny restaurant which is always brimming with diners on all days of the week, if you want a table on the weekend expect to book a good 6-8 weeks in advance. I went on a Thursday  and of course to celebrate a special occasion, as you always have to have an excuse to dine at a fancy restaurant. We were celebrating my boyfriend's sister's graduation which also happened to fall on the same day as his mum's birthday, there is possibly no better excuse to go for nice meal!

As you've probably spotted by the name it is a French restaurant, with top class food. The staff are also very personal, and if you mention when booking the occasion you are celebrating they decorate the table with appropriate confetti and write a lovely message in chocolate on you dessert plate, the little touches really do make a difference!

For starts I had the roast quail with honey and pepper, pistachio purée, crispy quail egg, chicken jus... just yummmm!

For mains I had the beef special, which was in a red wine sauce with tempura onions and a cheesy mash potato...  Cooked medium to perfection.

The boy had monkfish wrapped in Bayonne ham with home smoked creamy lentils, glazed carrots, which I was not allowed a taste! Hmmmph!

And dessert was the best bit as I had the chocolate fondant with a cherry sorbet and so did the most of us. It was filled with hot flowy chocolatey goodness.

Filled to the brim we all stuffed into one car and then went home for some birthday cake!
